  • Building Regulations cover the requirements for hearths
  • All appliances and installers must be HETAS approved
  • MIN 28mm Flow and Return pipes
  • A solid fuel appliance has to sit on a full constructional hearth (Document J)
  • It must have one radiator as a heat leak (slumber radiator)
    • must be connected "top to the bottom opposite ends- TBOE"
    • lockshield valves on both sides
  • Solid fuel central heating system will always be open vented (sealed is too dangerous)
  • The cylinder's minimum capacity is 100l
  • The room in which the solid fuel boiler is sited must have permanent ventilation
