Portsmouth Float-operated Valve
- [BS 1212 Part 1]
- Also known as Equilibrium Valve
- It has a removable seating, usually made of a tough nylon which has two advantages, one being it is easily interchangeable so that a high pressure valve can be converted for medium or low pressure simply by changing the seating. The other is that nylon is unaffected by cavitation (form of erosion which causes the pitting of brass seatings)
- These valves utilise the pressure of the water to help close the valve
Diaphragm Valve
[BS 1212 Part 2 or 3]
Will not permit back siphonage or back flow to take place even when completely submerged
Torbeck Equilibrium Float-operated Valve
- these valves enables a very small float to be used and, being very small, are ore easily fitted into cistern of 6L capacity
